SHIN Sang Ho: Structure & Force
2026.5.26 – 7.4
Gallery Sklo is pleased to present 《Structure & Force》, a solo exhibition by Shin Sangho, an artist who has expanded the horizon of Korean contemporary ceramics into the realm of ceramic sculpture. Following his major retrospective at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon, this exhibition focuses on the 《Structure & Force》 series within the artist’s vast body of work.
Working primarily with clay, Shin Sangho has developed a distinctive visual language that moves across the boundaries of ceramics and sculpture, craft and fine art. In particular, the 《Structure & Force》 series embodies the central concepts that run throughout his practice — structure and force, stillness and movement, material and energy. Since 2003, Gallery Sklo has maintained a close and ongoing dialogue with the artist, developing a deep understanding of his sculptural world. Rather than presenting a chronological survey, this exhibition aims to reveal the conceptual foundations of his work more clearly within a broader contemporary art context. The exhibition features 17 works from the 《Structure & Force》 series produced between 2005 and 2025, including the Horse, Bird, and Hog series, alongside 12 works from the Fired Painting series (2007–2011) and 4 works from Dream of Africa (2002–2010).
Through this exhibition, viewers are invited to move beyond the appreciation of form alone and experience the dynamic energy and vitality generated through the artist’s challenging structural experiments and intense pursuit of color. 《Structure & Force》 offers a concentrated view into Shin Sangho’s long-standing exploration of material and artistic inquiry, while opening a renewed perspective on the possibilities of ceramics as a contemporary visual language.
