PARK Sunghoon explores cosmic imagery and the density of existence through spherical glass forms that encapsulate internal space. Repeating processes of glass blowing and grinding, he carves thick glass spheres to create lens-like optical effects, allowing color and light contained within to be perceived as deep, spatial environments.
His SEED series returns to the fundamental form of blown glass, investigating its essential nature, while the VOID series, inspired by the Milky Way and cosmic structures, visualizes both emptiness and condensed energy. In his second solo exhibition at Gallery Sklo, Cracks in Time and Light (2025), the Breathing Void works further expanded into installation, developing a narrative that combines scientific structures with poetic imagery.
He was awarded the Gold Prize and the People’s Choice Award at the Cheongju Craft Biennale in 2023, and was named the winner of the Lexus Creative Masters Award in 2021. In 2023, his work entered the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), marking the first acquisition of a Korean glass artist by the institution. His works are also held in major public and private collections internationally.
PARK is recognized as a leading second-generation Korean glass artist, representing the conceptual expansion of contemporary glass sculpture.
