LEE Taehoon | b.1983, Korea

LEE Taehoon reinterprets the traditional glass technique of filigrana in a contemporary context, exploring line, rhythm, and the flow of time through glass sculpture. By precisely arranging and fusing colored glass canes, he creates intricate linear structures that accumulate within three-dimensional forms, resembling drawing in space.

His work extends beyond decoration, visualizing processes of repetition, breath, formation, and dissolution, while embodying layered temporalities. In Drawing the Dreamscape exhibition, he translates dreams, memories, and inner landscapes into delicate lines and transparent depth, guiding the viewer’s gaze into the interior of the work. Inspired by dandelion seeds, another body of work poetically captures the vitality and dispersion of fragile forms.

Maintaining both the transparency of glass and a strong structural density, his practice moves fluidly between craft and contemporary sculpture. He was awarded the Silver Prize at the Cheongju Craft Biennale International Competition in 2023, and his work entered the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in 2024, marking his growing international recognition. LEE is regarded as an artist who presents new possibilities for contemporary glass through the integration of refined technique and lyrical sensibility.
